A crafty 17-year-old computer wizard has devised a great way to make some elites more accountable for their carbon emissions finally.
The Daily Mail reports that the same people constantly criticizing others for their carbon footprint might have to eat their own words now because a Seattle-area schoolboy has created a program that tracks their emissions.
The Daily Mail reports that some of the elites in our society are some of the biggest emitters of carbon dioxide. At the top of the list was Silicon Valley entrepreneur Tom Siebel. Based on the measurements by the system set up by the teenager, Siebel was responsible for 300 times the emissions of the average American in 2022.
Some other significant emitters included Rupert Murdoch, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Pitbull, and Jeff Bezos.
The teenager is calling his program the Climate Jets project ranks. The teenager spoke with the New York Times and said he was inspired to create this project by the work of another individual who created a Twitter account to track Elon Musk's private jet. He created a comprehensive list of some of the worst offenders on the list by how much carbon dioxide they are putting out into the world.
Musk was not pleased with this fact and said it amounted to being doxxed. Now that Musk is the owner of Twitter, he has shut down the tracker.
Akash Shendure, the teenager behind the Climate Jets project ranks, said that he decided that Musk deleting the account that tracked his flights only inspired people like himself to start similar projects. It is the inspiration that he needed to create the Climate Jets project in the first place.
Shendure looked for public records and other available data to help create the Climate Jets project ranks he wanted to create. He has used this information and the help of an army of volunteers to produce a list of rankings related to the amount of carbon monoxide released by some of our society's wealthiest and most influential people. He feels that they should be held accountable for all they do, which is particularly true because they often talk down to others and tell them how they ought to live their lives and cut down on their carbon footprint. Now, Shendure is holding them accountable.
