In a tragic incident that unfolded in Indiana, a man named Mohammed Mondal is reported to have fatally shot his wife, Stacy Mondal, in the presence of their two young children.
The incident occurred on Monday, as the family was en route to JC Penny for a family photo session.
Mohammed Mondal, 45, initially contacted 911 dispatchers, claiming that he had "accidentally shot his wife" during a heated argument. However, he later altered his narrative, asserting that he had acted in self-defense to "neutralize a threat."
The couple's children, aged two years and 14 months, were present in the vehicle when the fatal shooting of Stacy, 40, took place. In subsequent interactions with law enforcement, Mohammed expressed suspicions that his wife was involved in extramarital affairs with two of their neighbors. He also claimed that he was being pursued by one of these men.
However, investigators found no evidence to substantiate Mohammed's allegations of Stacy's infidelity. Mohammed further alleged that Stacy had seized the handgun and aimed it at him. However, detectives concluded that Stacy had not fired the weapon.
As reported by Fox News, Mohammed has been charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony offense, and two counts of neglect of a dependent. He is currently held without bond at the Dearborn Law Enforcement Center.
In an excerpt from Fox News, it was reported that Mohammed insisted to the police that he was "not the bad guy" after allegedly shooting his wife seven times in front of their two toddlers to "neutralize a threat."
Mohammed was arrested and charged on Monday, according to Dearborn County Circuit Court records. He made his initial court appearance on Thursday and is currently detained at the Dearborn Law Enforcement Center without bond.
