Orthodontics And Ammo: Dental Practice Partners With Gun Club To Arm Smiles

In an unconventional marketing strategy, Gladwell Orthodontics, a dental practice based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, has teamed up with the Youngsville Gun Club & Range to offer a unique promotion.

Customers undergoing teeth alignment procedures can choose between a free Glock 19 pistol, valued at over $500, or a membership at the gun club.

Dr. Jason Gladwell, proprietor of Gladwell Orthodontics, clarified that the offer is exclusively for those on the gun club's mailing list. "This promotion has got a lot more traction and attention than, you know, kind of, we ever thought it would," Gladwell revealed to WRAL News.

He further emphasized, "Not everyone that comes into our office is going to be eligible; its not marketed to everyone. It is solely designed and marketed for the Youngsville Gun Club and Range." He added that the promotion is nontransferable, and the individual initiating the Invisalign treatment must be the eligible party.

WRAL News consulted with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and legal experts, who confirmed that such a promotion is entirely lawful, provided it adheres to North Carolina's gun laws concerning purchases and transfers. An ATF spokesperson stated, "Usually these transactions are coordinated through a licensed firearms dealer to ensure a background check is conducted and the recipient can legally possess a firearm."

The owner of the gun club also affirmed that customers would likely need to complete the necessary background checks in person.

This promotion echoes a similar initiative by a Florida roofing company, which offered a free turkey and an AR-15 rifle with the purchase of a new roof. The "Roof and Gobble" promotion aimed to encourage family unity and protection, as well as boost business.

Jason Polley, the company's owner, told NBC2 News, "The turkey will get you all sitting at the table so you can spend time together. The roof will protect your home, and the AR-15 will protect your family." The promotion proved successful, with eight roofs sold and 50 additional inquiries within two days.
