Detroit Police Chief James E.
White announced on Wednesday that a suspect has been apprehended in connection with the murder of Samantha Woll, the President of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue in the city.
In a statement posted on X, Chief White emphasized his commitment to transparency in the investigation.
"As part of my ongoing dedication to transparency in this matter, I am sharing with the community that a suspect has been taken into custody for the murder of Samantha Woll," stated Chief White.
While this development is a positive step towards bringing closure to Ms. Woll's family, Chief White made it clear that the investigation is far from over.
"While this is an encouraging development in our desire to bring closure for Ms. Woll's family, it does not represent the conclusion of our work in this case," the statement read.
To maintain the integrity of the investigation, Chief White stated that the details of the ongoing inquiry will remain confidential at this time. He also emphasized that investigators will continue to collaborate with the Wayne County Prosecutors Office until the investigation reaches its conclusion.
Samantha Woll, a 40-year-old woman, was discovered unresponsive outside her Lafayette Park residence on October 21 at 6:30 a.m. According to Fox News, police believe that she was stabbed inside her house sometime after 12:30 a.m., then stumbled outside and collapsed on the ground where she was later found.
During an October press conference, Chief White revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into Woll's residence. He also noted that Woll had her phone and ID with her at the time of the incident. However, Chief White did not provide any potential motives for the crime.
