A 16-year-old girl is facing murder charges after a double stabbing in Boston over the weekend left one woman dead, according to Fox News.
The suspect will be before West Roxbury Municipal Court to answer charges of the murder of a 21-year-old woman and an attack on a 17-year-old teenager. The 21-year-old victim was killed, and the 17-year-old was injured but survived the attack. Boston 25 News reported that the 17-year-old victim was seriously injured in the attack.
Police responded to reports of a stabbing after two victims stumbled into the police station nearest to them. They heard from those victims that the attack was taking place in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood, and they responded to the call there.
The two victims were taken to different hospitals based on their location and the severity of their injuries. Sadly, the 21-year-old victim did not pull through and ultimately died from her injuries. The 17-year-old, in this case, is expected to pull through and survive.
A resident of the neighborhood spoke with Boston 25 News and said: "Anytime somebody that young does something at 16 it really is a sad day for the whole community," and "I just wish that we could get more resources in the community to help people process their emotions in more constructive ways."
The 16-year-old girl will be processed through the regular court system and not through the juvenile system because the rules in the state provide that those between the ages of 14 to 17 who are charged with murder will be tried as adults instead of as juveniles. This specific crime is considered severe enough to be handled in the regular court system instead of in the juvenile system. Therefore, this 16-year-old could face a significant amount of time behind bars for what she has allegedly done. The suspect is considered innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
