Rick Scott Announces Endorsement For 2024 And Many Are Surprised...

Rick Scott, the former Governor of Florida and current Senator, has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential race.

Scott, who served as governor from 2011 to 2019 before his election to the Senate, expressed his support for Trump on social media.

"Im proud to endorse @realDonaldTrump," Scott posted. "Its time for the Republican Party to come together, behind one candidate, and declare with one voice that we are united in our efforts to defeat Joe Biden and rescue America."

Scott further elaborated on his endorsement during an appearance on NBC. "I have known Trump a long time before... I endorsed him in 2016, and I worked with him well when I was governor [of Florida] and in the Senate. When you look at what is going on in the world today, this would not be happening if he was the President."

He also urged unity within the Republican Party, stating, "I think we all should come together and do everything we can to help him win the nomination so we can beat Biden."

Interestingly, Florida's current Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis, is also a presidential contender. According to The Messenger, which broke the story, Scott and DeSantis have had a strained relationship since DeSantis contested Scott in Florida's 2018 gubernatorial race. Both Scott and Trump have been friends long before their political careers.

Scott did not endorse Trump before the Florida primary in 2016, choosing to do so the day after Trump ran against Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

At the recent RJC convention, Scott hinted at his impending endorsement for Trump. He praised Trump's pro-Israel stance, saying, "Just think what we had with the last President: the most pro-Israel President in the history of the country. Some people have different opinions about Donald Trump. But he did more for Israel than any President in the country. We defeated ISIS. We moved the embassy to Jerusalem, its rightful home. And he held vicious Iranian murderers like [Qasem] Soleimani accountable for American lives and Israeli lives. Our southern border was secured. And we had peace through the Abraham Accords."
