Politico Playbook has recently dismissed the allegations against President Joe Biden, his brother James, and son Hunter, related to their family business dealings.
Despite the mounting evidence, Politico Playbook claims there is no "smoking gun" that directly implicates the President in any wrongdoing. This stance has been criticized by Republicans who believe the evidence should lead to legal consequences for the Biden family.
In a recent article, Politico Playbook cited CNN's Annie Grayer, stating, "Now that they have a speaker again, House Republicans can return to their impeachment investigation into Biden but its unclear where itll go now. Not only have they failed so far to turn up any smoking gun showing Biden corruption, but their momentum was sapped by the speakership chaos."
However, Politico Playbook seems to have overlooked the fact that the House Oversight Committee continued its work during the speakership battle. The committee has revealed that James Biden wrote a check for $200,000 to Joe Biden in 2018.
The committee finds this transaction suspicious as it was facilitated through a distressed entity, Americore, which had loaned James Biden a total of $600,000. On the same day that Americore wired $200,000 to James Biden, he sent a check of the same amount to Joe Biden.
Both the White House and James Biden have denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the $200,000 was a repayment for a loan from Joe Biden. However, they have not provided any evidence to support this claim.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has requested the loan agreement and any relevant IRS tax filings in a letter to the White House. He wrote, The Internal Revenue Code has specific requirements for delineating and reporting below-market [rate] loans from gifts. While there are some exceptions, for example loans of $10,000 or less, the payment in question would not appear exempt from such requirements if it is a loan. Indeed, there appears to have been no interest paid on the loan based upon the White Houses own representations.
In addition to the $200,000 check, there is a documented trail of evidence that Politico Playbook has seemingly ignored. This has led to a decline in public trust in the media. A recent Gallup poll showed that confidence in the media's ability to report "news in a full, fair and accurate way" has fallen to its lowest level since 2016. Only 32 percent of Americans said they trust the media "a great deal" or "a fair amount" to report the news.
Public opinion on the Biden scandal further underscores the perceived media bias. A majority of voters believe Joe Biden committed a crime with Hunter Biden, according to a Yahoo/YouGov survey released in September. Sixty-one percent of Americans believe Joe Biden was involved in his familys business deals with China and Ukraine, a CNN poll found.
A majority of voters believe the Biden family received payments from foreign nationals to influence policy, according to polling by Trafalgar and Convention of States, exclusively revealed to Breitbart News in June.
