Breitbart reports that the European Union (EU) has confirmed that it will send $3.5 million to George Soros Open Society foundation.
V?ra Jourov, the vice president of the European Commission, confirmed the reports and the figure.
George Soros started this organization. For those who dont know, Soros made a name for himself by shorting sterling as a currency speculator in 1992. He made a massive bet against Sterling then, and it paid off in a big way for him. He crushed the Bank of England with his bet, propelling him to the billionaire status he enjoys today.
Today, Soros is involved in many political efforts, and only some appreciate his work. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbn states that he feels that Soros is one of the most corrupt people in the world.
Despite these concerns, the European Union confirmed that it would continue to work with the Open Society Foundation. They are set to provide the organization with two grants related to the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme that it runs.
Part of the project is to raise awareness on rights and values through support to civil society organisations and to promote EU values in Eastern European countries, including Hungary. These two funded projects have already begun as of January, and they are set to continue to operate for the next 36 months.
Breitbart reports that Romanian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Cristian Terhes is the latest to speak out against the funding the EU provides. He stated that this money would not go to the projects that the EU thinks it is and that it is likely that the people who receive the money are characters that should not be entrusted with that kind of money.
There are political concerns as well.
Soros Open Europe Foundation frequently meets and lobbies the European Commission for the promotion of anti-nation, anti-family, anti-life, anti-fundamental rights policies across EU, were the comments from a Christian Democratic National Peasants Party representative. That same representative also said:
The fact that his organisation got three million euros out of taxpayers money from his eurocrat puppets is another confirmation why the EU needs a deep reform; where the states will take back decision-making powers from these unelected and accountable bureaucrats.
It is undoubtedly exciting and concerning that the EU has stepped on such a heavy political landmine at a time like this.
