An anti-Hamas billboard in New Jersey, which featured the message "Hamas would chop your head off too," has been taken down following numerous complaints to the police.
Shlomo Schorr, associate director of the New Jersey office of Agudath Israel of America, revealed on social media that the billboard on Route 80 in Bogota borough was removed by organizers after receiving over 100 calls to the police. The image shared by Schorr displayed the provocative statement.
The billboard was reportedly created by JewBelong, a pro-Jewish organization that aims to combat anti-Semitism and promote joyful Judaism. However, JewBelong has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the controversy surrounding the billboard.
The Bogota police department clarified that they were aware of the billboard's message but emphasized that it was not their property nor the property of the Borough of Bogota. The billboard was privately arranged by an organization, and no criminal violations have been identified at this time. The police assured the community that there have been no threats and that they are actively investigating the matter to ensure the safety of all community members.
The billboard's message has sparked strong reactions from various individuals. While some may view it as a bold statement against Hamas, others may find it offensive or inflammatory. The removal of the billboard demonstrates the power of public opinion and the impact it can have on shaping public discourse.
