Screenshots have revealed that slides from a gender presentation at the American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition include proposed labels for "renaming" male and female genitalia.
The AAP is currently hosting its annual conference in Washington, D.C., from October 20-24, as stated on the association's official website. Manhattan Institute fellow Leor Sapir shared the screenshots, which show a list of labels for female minors who identify as transgender, such as "innie, front hole, d*ck or d*cklet (clitoris), T-penis, and chest/chesticles." The list for male minors who identify as transgender includes labels like "outie, junk, strapless, and bits."
Dr. Ilana Sherer presented these slides, suggesting that these labels should be used for young individuals struggling with gender dysmorphia. One of the slides, titled "How to ask teens about sex," encourages pediatricians to ask "open-ended" questions, including "How would you describe your sexuality?" The slides also make distinctions between heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual, asserting that transgender individuals can be heterosexual as long as they are attracted to the "opposite" sex.
The AAP's website states, "We're 67,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults." The mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to achieve optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults."
