In a recent report by RedState, President Joe Biden was noted to have made a speech requesting additional funding for Israel and Ukraine, as well as humanitarian aid for Gaza.
This occurred on Thursday evening, just before he left for a campaign reception and a subsequent beach getaway. This departure comes at a time when American and Israeli citizens are still being held captive by Hamas, and our troops are under attack in the Middle East.
The optics of this situation are less than ideal, to put it mildly. However, there was a glimmer of hope when it was reported that Hamas had released two hostages. The specifics of this release remain unclear, but the statement from Hamas did acknowledge the involvement of Qatar in the process.
On Friday, President Biden had a single work-related event on his schedule - a meeting with President Charles Michel of the European Council and President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission for the U.S.-EU Summit.
The meeting got off to a rocky start when President Biden struggled to organize his essential notes. He appeared to have difficulty making even simple, routine remarks without detailed notes. When his notes got stuck together, he was visibly flustered.
When President Biden deviates from his script, it often leads to problematic situations. This was evident when he recounted a story about his "Uncle Frank" and a Purple Heart he allegedly awarded him.
However, there is no evidence to substantiate this story or the claim that Biden's Uncle Frank ever received the Purple Heart. The White House has not provided any evidence to support this story when questioned. Fact Check stated, "We couldnt find any record that Frank Biden was awarded a Purple Heart, either while he was alive or posthumously."
The reaction of those present at the meeting to this story was audible. It raises the question of how they will respond upon learning that Biden's statement lacks evidential support. This is one of the significant issues with President Biden - the unpredictability of his statements. How many times has he made similar unsupported claims, and what must these leaders think of him?
In a previous instance, Biden claimed that the Purple Heart incident occurred during his vice presidency. In the recent meeting, he stated it happened while he was a senator. Neither claim has any supporting evidence.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Biden did not entertain any questions from reporters. They likely would have had numerous inquiries regarding the Israeli conflict and the hostages still held by Hamas. Instead, he left the room, leaving the press and their questions behind. Later that day, he was seen heading to the beach.
