Florida's Republican Senator Marco Rubio is spearheading a resolution aimed at deporting foreign nationals and revoking their visas if they express support for the Islamic extremist group, Hamas.
Rubio's office informed Fox News Digital that the senator would be hotlining the resolution, a process that entails requesting unanimous consent for the resolution's passage without the need for a full debate or vote on the Senate floor.
The resolution text calls on the president to "revoke visas and initiate deportation proceedings for any foreign national who has endorsed or espoused the terrorist activities of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah," or other terrorist groups implicated in the recent attacks against Israel.
The resolution further asserts that Hamas "terrorists operated death squads tasked with exterminating Jews, as well as hostage-taking squads tasked with abducting Jews for ransom, propaganda, and torture, if not [for] simply sadistic pleasure." It references a former Hamas leader's call for a "Day of Rage" on October 13, alleging that some individuals in the U.S. responded to this call and "incited others" to support Hamas. The resolution cites "Antisemitic" protests and riots in South Florida, Washington, D.C., New York City, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon.
"America is the most generous nation on earth, but we cannot allow foreign nationals who support terrorist groups like Hamas and march in our streets calling for intifada to enter or stay in our country," Rubio stated.
This resolution emerges amidst accusations from universities such as Harvard, University of California, Los Angeles, Columbia University, and the University of Virginia, blaming Israel for the recent attacks. Thirty-four student groups at Harvard alone penned a letter asserting that the "Israeli regime" was "entirely responsible" for the "unfolding violence" in Israel.
In a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark., echoed Rubio's sentiments, demanding immediate action to remove these foreign nationals, who he believes have "no place" in the U.S.
The conflict between Hamas and Israel, which began with a Hamas attack on October 7, has resulted in over 4,200 deaths in Gaza and Israel. Thousands more have been injured, and many have been taken hostage by Hamas, subjected to rape, torture, and murder.
Rubio, speaking on Fox News, expressed his concern, stating, "They should never have been allowed in. We probably didnt know that about them. No ones going to tell you, Im a Hamas supporter, on the way in. But once we know you are, our laws say you shouldnt have a visa, and you need to go."
The senator emphasized the need to ensure that foreign nationals visiting the U.S. do not support terrorist organizations like Hamas, which he accused of butchering babies, slaughtering innocents, and taking hostages, including Americans, into Gaza.
