Wisconsin State Rep. Calls Concerned Parents "Selfish" For Having THESE Fears

Wisconsin State Representative Dave Considine has sparked controversy with his recent comments regarding concerns over transgender inclusion in college sports.

In a video posted by MacIver News Service, Considine labeled parents who expressed worries about men potentially taking away college sports opportunities from women as "selfish."

"Some parents are concerned that their daughter might miss out on a scholarship. They might miss out on playing for this team or that team," Considine stated. "Boy, that doesn't sound like community. That sounds like selfishness. I am sorry to label it that way, but that sounds like what it is to me."

Considine went on to criticize those who prioritize their own interests over the overall strength and success of the team. "I am only worried about myself and not worried about building the team and having my school have a powerful team," he added.

Representative Considine, who has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2015, has been an advocate for transgender rights. He sponsored a resolution in 2023 to designate March 31st as Wisconsin's Transgender Day of Visibility, according to Track Bill.

Additionally, he used his Facebook account to promote the Transgender Day of Remembrance in November 2022, emphasizing the importance of remembering the lives lost to anti-trans violence.

Considine's comments have ignited a heated debate, with critics arguing that concerns over fairness and competitive balance in women's sports should not be dismissed as selfishness. Supporters of transgender inclusion, on the other hand, applaud Considine's stance as a step towards inclusivity and equality.
