Mark Boldizar, a self-proclaimed "wizard," is vying for a spot on the school board in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
In an unusual turn of events, local Democratic parties have thrown their support behind him.
The Manheim Township Democrats have described Boldizar as a "consultant and scientist" who is committed to "leveraging the district's diversity" for the educational advantage of all students. The party also highlighted that Boldizar is a proud parent of two graduates from Manheim Township High School.
The endorsement from the Democrats reads, "With over thirty years of experience leading teams on projects in more than ten countries, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the Manheim Township School Board. He is a proponent of diversity and believes in combining various perspectives with innovative problem-solving approaches. Mark is keen to utilize the Districts diversity for the educational benefit of all students in his bid for a seat on the school board."
James Lindsay, an author, humorously commented on Boldizar's campaign strategy, stating that it seemed to be based on the "Law of Attraction, scientifically demystified." Lindsay also shared a video of Boldizar, in which he discusses how to "unleash your inner wizard," including obtaining vital information from "magic rocks."
Lindsay pointed out that a local media endorsement misleadingly praised the school district's performance, stating it was superior to most in Pennsylvania. However, he noted that this was deceptive as less than half of the students were performing at grade level. Lindsay added, "It's really just failing somewhat less badly than most."
In one of his videos, Boldizar talks about using his "body as an instrument" and growing his hair long to "resonate with this more wizardly view of the world," describing his long hair as an "antenna."
Boldizar also hosts a podcast named "Wizards Way of Manifesting," which aims to "demystify the apparent magic of the Law of Attraction through scientific inquiry."
