Florida Rep Under Fire For Comments On Terror Attacks In Israel

Florida Representative Jared Moskowitz (D) faced criticism from MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan and others for his controversial stance on the recent events in Israel.

Moskowitz seemed to express acceptance of potential harm to civilians in Gaza, attributing the blame solely to Hamas.

In response to a post suggesting that Israel might cause harm to civilians in Gaza, Moskowitz wrote, "This is Hamas' fault and only Hamas. Israel gives a warning to save lives." He referred to the purported Israeli warning to "leave" and highlighted that the women and children who were killed in Israel did not receive any warning.

Independent journalist George Chidi joined the conversation, questioning where the people of Gaza could go given the restrictions on travel imposed by both Israel and Egypt. Chidi, drawing on his experience as an international peacekeeper in Sinai, emphasized that the 2 million people in Gaza were trapped in an open-air prison. Moskowitz responded by suggesting that it was something Hamas should have considered.

Chidi countered Moskowitz's statement, asserting that Hamas likely did consider the consequences and would exploit the propaganda value of civilian casualties to recruit more terrorists. He emphasized that any military attack on civilians, regardless of the actions of Hamas or anyone else, was both immoral and illegal.

MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan also took notice of Moskowitz's response, highlighting the congressman's suggestion that 2 million people in Gaza should be collectively punished for the actions of Hamas.

The exchange between Moskowitz, Chidi, and Hasan has sparked a debate about the responsibility of Israel and Hamas in the ongoing conflict and the impact on innocent civilians. The conversation raises important questions about the ethical and legal implications of military actions that result in harm to civilians.
