WATCH: Newt Gingrich Calls The 2024 GOP Race

Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, has declared that the contest for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination has already been decided in favor of Donald Trump.

In a recent interview on the Ingraham Angle, Gingrich stated, "All these folks are good people. It is that none of them is in the same league as Donald Trump."

Gingrich further emphasized that the real question facing the public is whether they would prefer to see Joe Biden re-elected or to support Donald Trump. He stated, "There is no middle ground here, I dont think, because we either are going to get Trump as president or you are going to have Biden and Bidens re-election would be a disaster for the country.

Gingrich also addressed the recent speculation about Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin entering the race. He referred to Youngkin as a "case study" for what can be achieved in a state. However, he noted that while the financial backing might be available for a Youngkin campaign, the votes are not there this year. Gingrich suggested that Youngkin could be "very impressive" in 2028, "maybe even a frontrunner, but not this time."

Gingrich was adamant in his prediction, stating, "The race is over. Donald Trump will be the nominee." He identified the next challenge as overcoming a "corrupt" judicial system that Democrats are allegedly using in an attempt to keep Trump off the ballot.

The discussion touched on the Democrats' claim that the 14th Amendment, enacted after the Civil War and prohibiting those guilty of "insurrection" from holding office again, should disqualify Trump due to the protest-turned-riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 8, 2021. However, Gingrich pointed out two significant issues with this argument: the law can be interpreted to exclude presidents, and Trump has never been charged, let alone convicted, of insurrection.

In Gingrich's view, this movement exemplifies "how terrified" the left is of a potential Trump candidacy and subsequent presidency. He concluded by saying that the "odds are very high" that Trump will win the general election, and as a result, Democrats are "going to do everything they can to stop that.
