Former Tennessee Teacher Charged With Child Rape REARRESTED After Alarming Twist In Ongoing Investigation

A former elementary school teacher in Tennessee, Alissa McCommon, has been rearrested for allegedly attempting to coerce her rape victim.

Covington Police arrested McCommon, 38, at her home on Thursday and charged her with coercion of a witness, aggravated stalking, and harassment. This comes just three weeks after she was initially charged with the rape of a child on September 8, 2023.

McCommon, who used to teach fourth grade, was released on a $25,000 bond with the condition that she could not contact the victim or any minors other than her own children. However, police discovered that she violated the terms of her release by using a previously unknown phone number to contact the boy she is accused of raping.

Covington Police stated, "The evidence indicates McCommon texted a victim, using a specific code word known to the juvenile as a code word McCommon would previously utilize to confirm that the juvenile was alone, often before sending nude photographs on SnapChat."

They also revealed that McCommon sent multiple text messages to the victim, indicating that he would "regret doing this." Furthermore, she admitted to a sexual encounter with the victim.

Covington Police Chief Donna Turner expressed her shock at McCommon's alleged actions, calling them "appalling" and suggesting that they violated her bond conditions. Turner also expressed concern that there may be other victims, stating, "Due to the nature of the communications, we are concerned others may have been contacted."

The police department is working closely with the District Attorney's Office to revoke McCommon's bond and pursue additional charges.

McCommon is currently being held without bond at the Tipton County Jail until her next court appearance. She has been charged with coercion of a witness, aggravated stalking, tampering with evidence, and harassment. Police previously revealed that McCommon had admitted to "communicating inappropriately with former students" through online video games and social media apps, where she allegedly sent them inappropriate photographs and requested sexual relationships.

The investigation into McCommon began after the Department of Children Services (DCS) provided information to the Covington Police Department. According to an affidavit, McCommon engaged in alleged sexual contact with a teenage male student while he was spending the night at her residence in 2021 when he was 12 years old.

Authorities have clarified that there is no evidence to suggest that McCommon's alleged crimes occurred on school grounds. The Covington PD is urging any other potential victims to come forward.

Dr. John Combs, the Director of Schools in Tipton County, confirmed that McCommon was suspended without pay on August 24 after a parent reported allegations of misconduct against her. The Covington Police Department CID and the Tipton County Sheriff's Office CID are encouraging anyone with concerns about their child potentially being victimized by McCommon to contact them.
