Have Colin Kaepernick's NFL Comeback Dreams Come True?

Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, may have a chance to return to professional football, but it seems unlikely to be in the NFL.

Despite Kaepernick's plea to the New York Jets to add him to their practice squad, he remains unsigned as of Thursday. It has been four years since he last threw a pass in the NFL.

However, there is some interest in Kaepernick from a Canadian Football League (CFL) team. The BC Lions have included him on their negotiation list, as reported by TSN. Each CFL team can claim exclusive rights to up to 45 players by adding them to their negotiation lists, with the ability to add, remove, or trade players at any time, according to CFL.ca.

It remains uncertain whether Kaepernick will consider any interest from the CFL. The 35-year-old has been out of the league since his decision to kneel during the national anthem in 2016 sparked controversy throughout the NFL. Since then, he has made statements comparing the NFL Draft to a slave auction, called for the abolition of law enforcement, and criticized the league for not taking sufficient action against social injustices.

Rapper J. Cole recently shared a letter written by Kaepernick to Jets general manager Joe Douglas. The Jets are currently dealing with their own quarterback situation following Aaron Rodgers' injury. In the letter, Kaepernick expressed his well wishes for Zach Wilson, the Jets' current starter, and clarified that he is not seeking to take his place. However, Kaepernick expressed his desire to lead the Jets' scout team, stating that he would "love the opportunity to fill that spot."

While Kaepernick's future in professional football remains uncertain, the possibility of him joining a CFL team may provide him with an opportunity to return to the field.
