In a shocking turn of events, Project Veritas, the investigative journalism company founded by James O'Keefe in 2010, has ceased operations.
The announcement came seven months after O'Keefe's controversial departure from the organization. Bobby Harr, a former employee and investigative reporter for Veritas, broke the news on Wednesday, which was later confirmed by The Post Millennial.
Harr's announcement read: "BREAKING: Project Veritas suspends all operations effective immediately. CEO@HannahMGilesand Jen Kiyak of Human Resources cite financial ruin as reason for additional layoffs on 9/20/23 leaving merely a handful of employees left. All investigations halted as of today."
An insider informed The Post Millennial that the remaining journalists, who had been primarily tasked with fundraising following a mass layoff on August 17, were dismissed on Wednesday. The organization was reportedly struggling financially.
A tweet from August 17, quickly deleted, read: "SOS Hannah Giles just fired us all." Giles, infamous for her role in the ACORN video alongside O'Keefe, assumed the role of CEO following O'Keefe's abrupt dismissal by the board of directors. Her tenure, however, has seen the organization's downfall.
A source told Post Millennial: "Since James quit, the donations dried up...the donations never resumed. The board were desperate to bring Hannah on board because they thought it would be cute but the problem is she's a charlatan and a fraud. Everything she's ever done has been a failure and she lied to everyone claiming she had all these donors she could bring in."
In February, O'Keefe announced his suspension from the CEO position following accusations of financial misconduct and employee harassment by 16 staff members in a letter to the Project Veritas board of directors. The letter stated: "James has become a power-drunk tyrant and he is exactly who he pontificates on who we should be exposing."
The phrase "James O'Keefe IS Project Veritas" began trending on Twitter, with many supporters and donors expressing skepticism about the organization's future without O'Keefe. Prominent conservatives also voiced their support for O'Keefe.
Despite the turmoil, Veritas expressed confidence in their ability to continue O'Keefe's mission. However, the recent suspension of operations suggests otherwise.
