Prominent figures including Elon Musk, Andrew Tate, and Tucker Carlson have rallied behind Russell Brand following a shocking expos accusing him of sexually assaulting and raping four women over a seven-year period.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, responded to Brand's video where he suggested he was the target of a "coordinated media attack" due to his right-wing critique of the media on his podcast "Stay Free." Musk, who himself faced accusations of indecent exposure to a flight attendant in 2016, wrote, "Of course. They dont like competition."
Andrew Tate, a social media influencer currently facing trial in Romania for rape and human trafficking charges, also expressed his support for Brand. He posted, "Welcome to the club," accompanied by a cartoon knight image with the caption: "On my way to fight the crazy bh allegations." He later referred to the situation as a "Matrix attack."
Tucker Carlson, a political commentator, added his voice to the chorus of support, stating, "Criticize the drug companies, question the war in Ukraine, and you can be pretty sure this is going to happen."
These statements were made in response to a joint investigation by the Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches into allegations that Brand, a 48-year-old British comedian, sexually assaulted and raped women at the peak of his popularity.
Brand had released a video the previous night attempting to preempt the report by denying the "astonishing" and "egregious" allegations that he sexually abused the women over a seven-year period, which included a 16-year-old girl he referred to as "the child."
The allegations against Brand claim that he abused his victims at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013. One of the alleged incidents occurred in Brand's Los Angeles residence, nearly five months after his divorce from Katy Perry was finalized. His reported teenage victim told investigators that the actor would send a car to pick her up from school and bring her to his house during their three-month relationship.
Brand, known for his role in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," stated that despite his "promiscuous" past, all of his relationships "were absolutely always consensual."
