2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump hosted a high-profile fundraiser on Thursday evening at his luxurious Bedminster, New Jersey golf club.
The event, which carried a hefty price tag of $100,000 per plate, aimed to raise funds for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's legal fees. Giuliani, who is facing charges alongside Trump in the state of Georgia, has been embroiled in a legal battle over alleged attempts to overturn the election results.
According to the Associated Press, Giuliani's son, Andrew, revealed in a radio interview that the fundraiser was expected to generate over $1 million. The younger Giuliani also disclosed that Trump has plans to hold another fundraising event at his opulent Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago club in the coming months.
While these efforts are anticipated to provide some financial relief, Andrew Giuliani acknowledged that they would not be sufficient to overcome the mounting legal expenses.
In addition to the fundraisers, Andrew Giuliani established the Giuliani Defense PAC to further bolster his father's legal defense fund. Furthermore, allies of the former mayor have been actively raising additional funds through The Rudy Giuliani Freedom Fund.
Earlier this month, Giuliani turned himself in at the Fulton County jail, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. The indictment includes 13 counts, including a violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Following his booking, Giuliani expressed his outrage, denouncing the indictment as a "travesty" and characterizing it as an attack on the American people.
As the legal battle unfolds, Giuliani's supporters are rallying behind him, both financially and in the court of public opinion. The high-profile fundraiser hosted by Donald Trump serves as a testament to the ongoing support for Giuliani, despite the mounting legal challenges he faces.
