New Mexico Governor Takes DRASTIC Action To Curb Gun Violence Amidst Tragic Loss Of 11-Year-Old Child

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has taken a bold step in the fight against gun violence by signing an executive order that temporarily bans the carrying of firearms in areas of the state with high crime rates.

The ban, which went into effect immediately, will last for 30 days.

Grisham's decision comes in the wake of a tragic incident where an 11-year-old boy lost his life while returning home from a baseball game. The governor has declared gun violence a public health emergency, emphasizing the urgent need for action.

"Today I issued a 30-day ban on the open and concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County," Grisham announced on X. "Gun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children every month in NM - every single one of these deaths is unconscionable and they must stop."

The executive order, as reported by KOB4, does not apply to police officers or licensed security guards. Additionally, citizens are still allowed to possess firearms in private.

While the move has faced criticism for being "unconstitutional," Grisham has made it clear that she is prepared to face a legal battle in order to protect the lives of New Mexico residents.
