Congressman Maxwell Frost, newly elected to serve Florida, argued that the Constitutional carry law was tantamount to "fascism," as the state looks to permit its citizens to bear arms with fewer limitations.

Joy Reid of MSNBC questioned Frost regarding the recent permitless carry legislation that advanced in Florida's House the prior week while he waited for President Biden's State of the Union address on Tuesday night.

Frost commented, "This is legislation that will result in death. People will die if this bill passes the Florida house and Florida senate and assigned by the governor. It's unfortunate, it's disappointing, it's not surprising.

Recently, a measure was brought forward by Republicans in Florida's House of Representatives that would give citizens the right to carry a gun without a license, making Florida one of more than half the states in the nation to offer constitutional carry.

The measure in Florida could potentially give gun owners a major victory, making the United States a country with a majority of states that allow Constitutional Carry.

Frost asserted that the situation in Florida is "scary" and "fascist" and proceeded to criticize DeSantis.

According to Frost, Governor DeSantis, who is a possible candidate for the 2024 presidential election, is taking advantage of his authority to target exposed populations with the intent of pushing through an agenda that will boost his profile in the race for the Oval Office. He is more interested in the prospect of the presidency than in performing his duties as governor.

If House Bill 543, is passed, it will legalize constitutional carry however it will force those who possess firearms to show their ID when asked by police. Additionally, it prohibits carrying a gun at school-sponsored events or anywhere on school grounds. Lastly, non-residents may be authorized to hold a gun, depending on if they meet the standards.
