He Sure Means Business: James Comer Demands National Archives Turn These Over ASAP

Written by Published

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., has formally requested un-redacted emails from the National Archives that involve communications between then-Vice President Joe Biden's office and Hunter Biden's business associates.

The committee is seeking access to a case record titled "Records on Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Their Foreign Business Dealings," which was recently made public as a result of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

In a letter provided to Fox News Digital, Comer states that the complete versions of these records are relevant to the committee's investigation of the Biden family. The letter specifically mentions an email exchange from December 4, 2015, between Eric Schwerin, a longtime Biden family business associate, and Kate Bedingfield in the Office of the Vice President. The email provides quotes that the White House should use in response to media inquiries about Hunter Biden's role in Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company. Bedingfield responds to Schwerin, stating that the Vice President signed off on the quotes.

Comer finds the timing of this email exchange concerning, as it occurred on the same day that Hunter Biden allegedly called Washington, D.C. to discuss pressure from Burisma. Three days later, Vice President Biden traveled to Ukraine and threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if Ukrainian officials did not fire the prosecutor-general who was leading an investigation into Burisma and its founder, Mykola Zlochevsky.

Comer argues that these email exchanges provide evidence of collusion between Biden's vice presidential office and his son's businesses. He claims that Joe Biden did not establish a clear separation between his family's business dealings and his official government work. Comer states that there is evidence of collusion in the efforts to manipulate media stories about Burisma's corruption while Biden publicly advocated for anti-corruption measures in Ukraine.

The letter also requests that the National Archives produce all executive calendars created for Biden during his vice presidency. Comer explains that the committee needs these documents to draft potential legislation aimed at addressing deficiencies in ethics laws and disclosure of financial interests related to the immediate family members of Vice Presidents and Presidents. The committee is concerned about foreign nationals seeking access and influence by engaging in lucrative business relationships with high-profile political figures' immediate family members, including members of the Biden family.

Comer emphasizes the importance of accountability and transparency in addressing the alleged abuse of government office for the benefit of the Biden family. The Oversight Committee will continue to pursue all evidence to provide much-needed transparency to the American people.

This request from the House Oversight Committee comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the relationship between the Vice President's office and Hunter Biden's former firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners. It has been reported that in December 2015, while Biden was in Ukraine, his office attempted to suppress a Bloomberg News story about Hunter at the request of the firm.

The committee's request for un-redacted emails and executive calendars aims to shed light on the extent of the Biden family's involvement in foreign business dealings and potential conflicts of interest. The committee seeks to address deficiencies in current ethics laws and disclosure requirements to safeguard American national security and interests.
