A shocking incident unfolded in Rochester, New York, as a registered sex offender stands accused of brutally assaulting his elderly neighbor and throwing him from a third-story window.

The disturbing events took place at the corner of Genesee Street and Sawyer Street early Thursday morning, prompting a swift response from the authorities.

The victim, identified as 65-year-old Angel Lopez, was found lifeless in front of the Destiny Mart, a local corner store. Investigators determined that the attack occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on the third floor of the apartment building where both Lopez and the accused, 38-year-old Damien Young, resided.

According to Rochester Police, Young viciously beat Lopez, leaving him in a semi-conscious state, before callously throwing him out of the third-story window. It is believed that the victim struck a second-floor fire escape before tragically falling to the pavement, succumbing to his injuries.

Photographs from the scene captured the grim aftermath, with a firetruck's ladder extended to the top of the building, positioned above a blue tarp that covered Lopez's lifeless body.

Young was swiftly apprehended by the police and subsequently charged with second-degree murder. Following his arrest, he was admitted to Rochester General Hospital under the Mental Hygiene Law but was later discharged. Young has pleaded not guilty to the charges, claiming self-defense. However, his request to represent himself in court was denied by a judge. He is currently being held without bail at the Monroe County Jail.

Authorities have revealed that Young is a registered Level 2 sex offender, having previously served a prison sentence for attempted abuse in 2006. As the investigation unfolds, the police have been unable to locate any relatives of the victim and are appealing to the public for assistance in shedding light on this tragic incident.
