Hinds County District 2 Supervisor David Archie, a Democrat, is contesting the results of the recent Democratic primary election, claiming that voter fraud took place.
Archie alleges that the election corruption was orchestrated by Jacqueline Amos, the chairperson of the Hinds County Democratic Executive Committee.
According to WAPT, Archie lost to Anthony Smith, who won by 63% of the vote, as reported by Hinds County election officials. However, Archie requested a review of the ballot boxes after the election and found that he was only provided with paper ballots by the Hinds County Democratic Party. He was not given secondary confirmation measures such as a voter signature book, digital images of the ballots, or the thumb drives from the voting machines.
Archie believes that Amos played a key role in the alleged election fraud. He claims to have evidence of a text message exchange between Amos and an unnamed person, where Amos disparaged him. The unidentified person texted Amos, expressing concern about potential cheating in another election, to which Amos allegedly responded, "She won. But I'm going to f*** David Archie on the site!!!" Archie argues that this text message, along with other evidence, implicates Amos as the orchestrator of the fraud.
During a press conference, Archie stated, "The bottom line is that we have the text, shes the chairperson, shes the one thats responsible. She must be impartial to any and all elections here in Hinds County, and this does not speak that she was being impartial to an election." He also claimed to have video footage of Amos handling ballot boxes, bringing in thumb drives, and inserting ballots into machines, which he believes further supports his allegations of fraud and corruption.
Several residents of District 2 also expressed their concerns at the press conference. Taylor Pedigo, a District 2 resident, noticed irregularities in the election numbers and believes further investigation is necessary. Cynthia Walker, a Yazoo City resident who participated in the ballot recount, expressed doubts about the accuracy of the paper ballots alone, emphasizing the need for additional confirmation measures.
Despite Archie's allegations, he was defeated by Smith by nearly 1,900 votes in the Democratic primary. In response to the voter fraud allegation, Amos issued an email statement denying any wrongdoing.
Archie has called for Amos to resign from her position as chairperson of the Hinds County Democratic Executive Committee. He has threatened to file criminal charges if she does not step down, accusing her of meddling with election integrity.
It is worth noting that Archie is a member of the NAACP, a supporter of the ACLU, and a civil rights activist. These affiliations may have influenced his decision to contest the election results and pursue allegations of voter fraud.
