Photos of a creature resembling the Loch Ness Monster have been hailed as the "most exciting ever" by enthusiasts searching for the legendary beast.
The images, taken in 2018 by photographer Chie Kelly, show a serpent-like animal with its body on the surface of Loch Ness. Kelly had kept the photos to herself out of fear of ridicule but decided to release them now due to the ongoing search for the creature.
The sighting occurred when Kelly and her husband were having lunch at the Dores Inn on the banks of the loch in Inverness, Scotland. Kelly captured the creature on her Canon camera as it moved steadily across the water, spinning and rolling at times.
The creature disappeared after a couple of minutes, and no head or neck were visible. Kelly estimated that the two visible parts of the creature were less than 2 meters long combined. She initially considered the possibility of it being an otter or a seal but noted the strange movement on the surface and the absence of any sound.
Steve Feltham, a dedicated Loch Ness Monster researcher, described Kelly's photos as some of the best he has ever seen. He praised the clarity of the images and emphasized the need for further investigation, as the creature remains unexplained.
The Loch Ness Center and the Loch Ness Exploration volunteer group recently hosted a "Quest Weekend" as part of the ongoing tradition of searching for Nessie.
Despite facing challenges such as inclement weather and technical difficulties, the enthusiasts remain committed to exploring the lake in their quest for evidence of the fabled creature. The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register has recorded approximately 1,148 sightings of the creature, with three reported so far this year and six in 2022.
