Curtis Sliwa, the former Republican nominee for New York City mayor and founder of the well-known Guardian Angels, was arrested on Sunday while participating in a protest outside Gracie Mansion.
This marks Sliwa's third arrest in recent days, with Fox News reporting last week that he was arrested for a second time during a protest against migrant housing.
In a press release before the event last week, Sliwa criticized Mayor Eric Adams, stating, "Eric Adams kicked out the elderly occupants of this nursing home in order to house illegal migrants. He is despicable."
The exact reason for Sliwa's arrest on Sunday is currently unknown. Last week, he was booked after calling on other protesters to join him in blocking the street.
Chanting "Have pity. No tent city!" earlier this month, Sliwa voiced his criticism of the city's policies under Mayor Eric Adams. He emphasized the need for the mayor to represent the American citizens of New York City who pay their taxes and afford to put him in a $5000 customized suit each day.
Sliwa is not alone in his opposition to Mayor Adams' current policies. A Staten Island resident expressed her discontent with a city initiative for housing migrants, stating that it is "unfair" and that her tax dollars should not be allocated to this cause, as reported by CBS New York on Saturday.
