Hunter Biden, son of the U.S. President, is reportedly relocating to a beach house in Malibu, California, with a monthly rental of $15,800.
The Secret Service agents assigned to protect him will be living across the street in a four-bedroom house, the rent for which will be covered by taxpayer funds.
According to the Daily Mail, this move represents a downsize for Hunter Biden, whose previous residence cost approximately $20,000 per month. The Secret Service's accommodation will cost $16,000 per month, a sum that will be drawn from the agency's budget.
The new residence is a three-bedroom, three-bathroom house built in the 1950s, located within a gated community. The property listing describes the home as having "mesmerizing ocean views," an "open floor plan," "beautiful wood-beamed ceilings," and large windows that create an illusion of being "fully immersed and in total harmony with nature."
The move comes amid mounting legal fees for Hunter Biden, who has recently parted ways with several lawyers after the Department of Justice (DOJ) backed out of a potential deal. The likelihood of a full criminal trial has increased, and a special counsel has been appointed to oversee the case.
This development coincides with an ongoing Congressional investigation into the Biden family, which has reportedly identified $20 million being funneled into the bank accounts of Hunter Biden and his associates.
Hunter Biden's previous residence in Venice Beach was allegedly left in a state of "disarray and disrepair" after he and his wife Melissa vacated the property, leading to claims that they were "horrible tenants."
Hunter Biden, 53, and Melissa, 36, will be residing in their new home with their son Beau, while Hunter continues his work as an artist.
The use of taxpayer funds to cover the housing costs of Secret Service agents has previously been criticized by left-wing media, particularly when the agency was charged $17,000 per month for a cottage near former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
However, the cost of protecting Hunter Biden in his new Malibu home is significantly lower than before, with the monthly charge to the Secret Service dropping from $30,000 to approximately half that amount.
