Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has set March 4, 2024 as the trial start date for former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants, as reported by Reuters.
In a recent court filing, Willis also requested that the arraignments of the indicted individuals occur during the week of September 5, 2023. The charges against Trump and 18 others include violations of the state RICO Act, solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, false statements and writings, impersonating a public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, among others. Willis has demanded that Trump and his co-defendants "voluntarily surrender no later than noon on Friday, the 25th day of August 2023."
The chosen trial start date, March 4, 2024, is significant as it falls less than a week before Georgia's presidential primary election, scheduled for March 12.
Furthermore, this date is only a few weeks prior to the already scheduled trial in Manhattan, set to begin on March 25, 2024, where Trump faces felony charges of falsifying business records.
