As the first GOP primary debate looms, numerous Republican presidential hopefuls are in the throes of preparation.
However, newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy, a multi-millionaire biotech entrepreneur, best-selling author, and culture wars advocate, is not among them.
With the Fox News-hosted debate scheduled for August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ramaswamy expressed his anticipation, stating he's "looking forward to introducing myself to the people." During a campaign stop in New Castle, New Hampshire, he revealed to Fox News Digital that his focus is not on excessive preparation.
Ramaswamy provided insight into his pre-debate itinerary, saying, "We were in Michigan. We were in Chicago yesterday. Back to Ohio. Here in New Hampshire. Out to California. Texas. Atlanta. South Carolina. Then Ohio. And that will take me right to the doorstep of the debate." He believes this approach sets him apart from his fellow candidates.
According to Ramaswamy's campaign, the candidate has been immersing himself in foreign policy briefings and engaging in debates with staff during flights to gear up for the initial face-off. However, unlike some of his competitors, Ramaswamy has not participated in any mock debates in preparation for the prime-time event.
Ramaswamy, who has already qualified for the September and likely October thresholds, noted that this would be his first-ever debate. He said, "this will be my first time ever, so Im looking forward to certainly taking my time and the first debate is not the end, its just the beginning and so it will be something of a warmup for me."
An adviser, acknowledging that Ramaswamy is far from a conventional candidate, suggested that if the political novice does not perform as hoped in the first debate, they will "have to reevaluate our preparations" for the second debate in September.
