In the wake of former President Donald Trump's fourth indictment, this time in Georgia, a video compilation has gained traction on social media platforms.
The video, curated by RNC Research, features numerous instances where Democrat Stacey Abrams refused to accept her defeat in the 2018 gubernatorial race against Republican Brian Kemp.
The compilation includes over 30 instances where Abrams, who failed to secure the governorship of Georgia, claimed that the election was "rigged," "stolen," and that "the process was not fair." In one of the clips, Abrams is heard stating, "But I didnt lose, I got the votes, but we wont know exactly how many because of how they cheated."
In another segment, Abrams declared her refusal to concede, further elaborating in a separate clip that "concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true or proper." She also asserted in an interview that "It was not a free and fair election," and in another appearance, she claimed, "I believe it was stolen from the Georgia voters."
Abrams' numerous statements bear a striking resemblance to the remarks made by 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump following the 2020 election. These comments have led to Trump's indictment, while Abrams remains unscathed.
In the indictment against Trump issued by special counsel Jack Smith in early August, the document alleges that Trump knowingly disseminated false claims about his election victory. It further accuses him of perpetuating these falsehoods "to make his knowingly false claims appear legitimate, create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger, and erode public faith in the administration of the election."
One of the charges against Trump in the indictment, conspiracy to defraud the United States, alleges that Trump and his co-conspirators attempted to defraud the US by using false claims of election fraud to obstruct the federal function of collecting, counting, and certifying the 2020 election results.
In the most recent indictment from Georgia, Trump is accused of making false statements and writings, specifically regarding a statement made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on September 17, 2021: "As stated to you previously, the number of false and/or irregular votes is far greater than needed to change the Georgia election result."
Abrams, who has been labeled an election denier, has stated, "if it looks like its cheating, it probably is" in reference to the election. She also claimed, "we wont ever know empirically that I got more votes because we will never know which votes didnt get counted."
