Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has found himself in the spotlight, not for his performance on the field, but for his choice of practice attire.
A photo of Murray wearing what appeared to be a sports bra during training camp went viral on social media, leading to widespread criticism and mockery.
However, it turns out that the piece of equipment in question is not actually a sports bra, but a vest from Catapult Sports. The company explains on its website that the vest is designed to hold a pod between the shoulder blades, which contains a GPS, accelerometer, and magnetometer.
This device is capable of capturing over 1250 data points per second, providing valuable insights into an athlete's performance, such as total distance, top speed, number of sprints, and more.
Catapult Sports emphasizes that the sports bra shape of the vest is intentional, as it holds the pod in an optimal position for accurate data tracking. They also claim that it is the safest place to position the device in any contact sport.
While Murray's choice of practice gear may have raised some eyebrows, it is important to remember that he is currently recovering from a torn ACL. His return date to the field is uncertain, and he will be playing under a new head coach, Jonathan Gannon, with new receiving targets due to offseason changes made by the Arizona Cardinals.
Despite the distraction caused by the controversy surrounding his practice outfit, Murray's performance on the field last season was impressive. The two-time Pro Bowler threw for 2,369 yards and 14 touchdown passes, showcasing his talent and potential as a star quarterback.
