A suspect in Florida is accused of feigning a heart attack during a traffic stop, according to police reports.
Brent Christopher Heath, a resident of Palm Coast, was apprehended by deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office after they stopped his vehicle in Bunnell. The stop was prompted by the scent of marijuana emanating from the car.
During a search of Heath's vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered a prescription bottle containing a "golden-brown oil substance" that tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Fentanyl. As a result, Heath was charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of paraphernalia, possession of hashish, and failure to obey law enforcement.
While being arrested, Heath claimed to be experiencing a heart attack. However, authorities were unable to confirm whether he was genuinely in medical distress. "He was checked on scene by a medical unit but could not be adequately evaluated due to his actions and demeanor, so he was transported to AdventHealth South by Deputy Huzior," stated the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. After being medically cleared, Heath was subsequently taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
According to law enforcement officials, Heath has an extensive criminal record, including previous arrests for child abuse, domestic violence, and grand theft. He has also faced charges related to burglary, resisting an officer with violence, and dealing in stolen property.
Sheriff Rick Staly expressed his frustration with Heath's repeated offenses, stating, "This poison peddler is a serial criminal and won't learn his lesson. Time for him to turn his life around or face serious jail time."
