A transgender individual who was facing charges of child molestation and possession of child pornography has been found dead in jail, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Department in Indiana.

Leomeir Kennedy was discovered unconscious in a jail cell on Friday morning and despite attempts to revive them, they were pronounced dead at the Johnson County Jail. The sheriff's office has stated that no foul play is suspected in Kennedy's death, and the coroner's office has reported that Kennedy suffered from cardiac arrest.

An autopsy and toxicology test will be conducted to determine the cause of death, and an investigation into the transgender inmate's death is currently underway.

Kennedy, who worked as a licensed behavior technician at the Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center in Greenwood, was accused of molesting at least three young autistic children. According to reports, Kennedy had admitted the assaults to a spiritual advisor, who then encouraged them to confess to the parents of their first victim, a 1-year-old girl whom Kennedy regularly babysat in 2017.

Kennedy allegedly molested the girl while changing her diaper. The accused individual was also accused of molesting two other autistic children, one of whom was nonverbal.

Investigators reportedly found child pornography on Kennedy's cell phone and laptop. The search of Kennedy's electronics revealed disturbing online activity, including a search for "13-year-old gang raped" on DuckDuckGo and the receipt of sexual images of very young children through the Whispr app.

In July, a mother of one of the alleged victims filed a lawsuit against Kennedy and the Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center, accusing the center of negligence and failure to protect her daughter from "sexual, physical, emotional, and psychological abuse."
