Former President Donald Trump has responded to comments made by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi regarding his appearance ahead of his arraignment in federal court.
Trump criticized Pelosi's "very weird story" about her husband and called her remarks "vicious." Pelosi had stated that Trump looked like a "scared puppy" as he arrived at the courthouse for his arraignment on charges related to alleged 2020 election interference. Trump, who is currently the leading contender for the 2024 GOP nomination, pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of an official proceeding.
In a post on his Truth Social website, Trump disputed Pelosi's characterization of him, stating that the "millions" of people watching him on television did not see him as scared. He described Pelosi as a "Wicked Witch" and criticized her husband's alleged journey from hell, referring to a recent home invasion in which he was attacked.
The alleged attacker, David DePape, faces state charges of attempted murder and elder abuse, as well as federal charges for kidnapping. DePape is scheduled to have a hearing on Wednesday, with a federal trial set to begin on November 13.
