Law enforcement officials in New Jersey say that New Jersey Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour was gunned down in front of her home Wednesday night.
The New York Post reports that Dwumfour was found dead after being repeatedly shot outside of her home. She was in her white Nissan SUV, and she was allegedly gunned down near the Camelot at La Mer apartment complex in Sayreville, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office.
An anonymous male witness stated that her car was hit with approximately 12 rounds while traveling around Check Avenue toward Samuel Circle at approximately 7:15 p.m.
According to the New York Post, her car eventually came to a rest, but not before crashing into two other parked cars in its path. Sadly, some Snapchat footage of the incident shows Dwumfours body in the car while first responders react to the scene.
The witness explained: It took a second before I realized there was a dead body behind the wheel.
And he stated:
She was slumped over the wheel with a black hoodie with brown fur covering her head, her hands were down by her side. There was one bullet hole in the passenger door and a bunch of bullet holes in the driver door. Some other neighbors said they saw someone running away with a mask on.
Some witnesses who spoke with RLS Media said that the gunman was seen racing down Garden State Parkway. They couldnt provide additional details about the suspect or any other aspects related to this case.
She was a Republican councilwoman who police said that she appeared to be the target of the attack, but there arent clear reasons why she would be attacked.
Dog Groomer Kristen Glanforf spoke with the Post and stated the following:
I dropped everything and started running for my apartment. There was a car rolled down to the end of the hill, lights on. The doors were open.
Community organizer Charlie Kratovil posted a video of the SUV being towed away from the scene. Kratovil stated the following:
I personally knew her to be a very kind person and public servant. May she rest in peace.
The New York Post reports that New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy spoke about the situation and was shocked by the terrible news. She stated the following:
Her career of public service was just beginning, and by all accounts she had already built a reputation as a committed member of the Borough Council who took her responsibility with the utmost diligence and seriousness.

I send my condolences to Councilwoman Dwumfours family and friends, her governing body colleagues, and the entire Sayreville community.
