Former President Donald Trump expressed his belief that the Secret Service has knowledge of the owner of the bag of cocaine that was discovered at the White House.
In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures," Trump questioned the notion that officials could be unaware of the individual responsible for the substance found near the West Executive entrance in the Situation Room. Trump highlighted the extensive surveillance system in place, stating, "You know how many cameras they have opposite the front door of the Situation Room?"
Trump, who has developed a close relationship with the Secret Service, praised their capabilities, describing them as "incredible people" who possess extensive knowledge. He expressed his confidence in their ability to gather information, stating, "And I believe that they know everything they're really smart and good at what they do."
The bag of cocaine was discovered at the White House in July, and it was recently announced that the Secret Service was unable to determine its owner. Trump, however, expressed skepticism regarding the outcome of the investigation. He questioned the plausibility of bags of cocaine being left in such a sensitive area, emphasizing the significance of the Situation Room where critical decisions regarding war and nuclear matters are made.
The Secret Service released a statement on Thursday detailing their investigation. They conducted a thorough examination that spanned several days prior to the discovery of the substance, identifying several hundred individuals who may have accessed the area where it was found. The agency also utilized forensic evidence from the FBI's analysis of the packaging to compare with a pool of known individuals. Unfortunately, the investigation did not yield any fingerprints, and the DNA present was insufficient for further analysis.
Trump's remarks highlight his doubts regarding the Secret Service's inability to identify the owner of the bag of cocaine found at the White House. While praising the agency's capabilities, he expressed skepticism about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation, despite its efforts, was unable to provide conclusive evidence regarding the ownership of the substance.
