A disturbing revelation has emerged linking the brutal assault of a 14-year-old female student at a middle school in California with the defunding of the police.
The shocking incident took place at Sun Valley Middle School, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District. KCAL-TV, in their report, featured an interview with the victim's mother, who expressed her heartbreak and anger over the incident.
"It's very heartbreaking, and it makes me upset every time I watch it," the mother told KCAL, unable to contain her emotions.
The assault, captured on video and shared on social media, shows two female students repeatedly beating and kicking the victim. Initially, a teacher attempted to intervene and separate the students, but eventually gave up, allowing the assault to continue unabated. The report revealed that the victim endured as many as 35 blows during the attack.
"I'm at a loss for words, this is disgusting," the mother expressed, her voice filled with anguish.
KCAL reporter Ross Palombo confronted the teacher, Evan Diamond, seeking his perspective on the incident. However, Diamond declined to comment and expressed his reluctance to watch the video that had circulated widely on social media.
"I don't want to see it, it was a terrible experience," Diamond stated, clearly affected by the traumatic event.
According to the victim's mother, Diamond had approached her and admitted his lack of knowledge on how to handle such a violent situation.
"He said, 'I tried to do what I could, I cannot touch the students, and I would like more training on how to restrain a child, or what can I do in this situation?'" the mother recounted.
The report further delved into the defunding of the police force over the past two years, shedding light on the potential consequences of such actions.
In response to the negligence exhibited by the school staff, the victim's family intends to file a lawsuit against the district, holding them accountable for their daughter's harm.
