Mark Your Calendars: See Controversial Admiral Calls for 'Summer of Pride' As Pride Month Wraps Up (Video)

Admiral Rachel Levine, the Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.

S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), has declared that the end of Pride month should not mark the end of the celebrations.

In a message posted on the official HHS Instagram account and Twitter, the admiral, who is transgender, declared, Happy Pride! Happy Pride Month, and actually lets declare it a summer of Pride. Happy Summer of Pride.

Pride month originally began as a commemoration of the Stonewall riots of late June 1969, when activists rioted against police raids on the Stonewall pub, where gay men had been known to congregate and meet.

Since then, the observance has been extended to a full month of festivities in many American cities, and now, according to Admiral Levine, to the three months of summer, transitioning to a celebration of alternate sexualities.

In 2021, Admiral Levine made history as the first openly transgender four-star admiral in the armed forces. However, she has faced criticism for her controversial views on gender transition, including her refusal to limit gender-affirming drugs and surgery for minors.

The Biden administration has celebrated Pride month across all federal government departments, including military and diplomatic institutions at home and abroad.

Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large, Joel B. Pollak, has been critical of the Biden administrations stance on Pride month, and has previously reported on Admiral Levines views on gender transition.

Pollak is also the author of the new biography, Rhoda: Comrade Kadalie, You Are Out of Order, and the recent e-book, Neither Free nor Fair: The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election.
