Democrats Seize Congress And Move To Revive TPS Amnesty For HaitiansBut Trump Holds One Last Card

The new Democratic majority in Congress is already moving to revive the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) amnesty for Haitian migrants, with Rep. Laura Gillen (D-NY) openly vowing to use her partys power to push the policy through.

According to Breitbart, Gillen declared on X that, The fight to protect our Haitian neighbors and pass my bill extending TPS for Haiti will gain even more momentum with a Democratic majority in Congress. She added, Ive stood by our Haitian community and now look forward to working with my new colleagues to get this done. Her comments follow Democrats capture of both the House and Senate, a shift that all but guarantees her bill a viable path to 60 votes in the upper chamber.

The remaining obstacle will be whether President Donald Trump, who has taken a harder line on mass migration, chooses to veto the measure. In June, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to uphold the Trump administrations decision to end TPS amnesty for at least 450,000 Haitian migrants admitted under President Joe Biden.

Breitbart Newss Neil Munro reported that the ruling was good news for many Americans and that the Haitian migrants will lose their work permits, access to government aid, drivers licenses, and legal residency. Munro noted that The decision is good news for many Americans, including the citizens of Springfield, Ohio, a community he said had been radically disrupted after at least 10,000 wage-cutting, rent-spiking, diversity-boosting Haitian migrants were brought into local jobs, housing, schools, and welfare systems.

He further explained, The decision means that the Haitian migrants will lose their work permits, access to government aid, drivers licenses, and legal residency, forcing employers to stop hiring them over Americans and compelling landlords to negotiate cheaper rents for Americans as Haitians move out of the local housing market. Breitbart Newss John Binder reported in August that Haitians were already self-deporting to Canada after the Trump administration ended TPS amnesty for Haitians.

With Democrats now intent on reversing that policy, the coming fight in Washington will test whether Congress prioritizes the demands of the open-borders lobby or the economic and social stability of American communities.
