Democrats Escalate War On Elon Musk After He Teams Up With Trump To Slash Federal Waste

Democrats, increasingly hostile to dissenting voices in business and technology, have turned their ire toward Elon Musk with a fervor that says more about their own priorities than about the billionaire innovator they are trying to destroy.

According to RedState, the lefts crusade against Musk is especially shortsighted given how much he contributes to American strength and security, from restoring a measure of free speech on X to making the United States the undisputed leader in commercial spaceflight through SpaceX. Rather than recognizing that Musks companies bolster U.S. competitiveness and reduce dependence on hostile foreign powers, Democrats appear fixated on punishing him for the unforgivable sin of backing Republican candidates and working with President Trumps Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to slash federal waste.

That vendetta has taken increasingly unhinged forms, with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) demanding investigations and Democrat Rep. Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) ominously warning, "See you soon." Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich has urged Democrats to "defund" Musk and even "nationalize" his companies, while left-wing academic and podcaster Scott Galloway went so far as to brand him a traitor and liken him to the Rosenbergs, who were executed for espionage, a comparison that underscores just how deranged the rhetoric has become.

Musk, however, has not responded with fear or appeasement, but with a pointed and devastatingly calm rebuttal that exposes how little his critics understand about his businesses or the free market. Reacting to a suggestion that he simply terminate his government contracts, he openly mocked the Democrats threats and laid out the facts in a way that left their narrative in tatters.

"Exactly ?? Tesla has no government contracts and President Trump ended federal incentives for electric vehicles," Musk wrote, dismantling the tired progressive talking point that his success is built on federal subsidies. He continued, "SpaceX contracts with the government are BOTH the best product AND the lowest price! Moreover government revenue will be less than 10% of SpaceX revenue this quarter and less then 5% a year from now. Happy to cancel any that the government doesnt want. Just say the word!"

He reiterated the point for emphasis: "Exactly. Tesla has no government contracts and President Trump ended federal incentives for electric vehicles." Musk added, "SpaceX contracts with the government are BOTH the best product AND the lowest price! Moreover government revenue will be less than 10% of SpaceX revenue this quarter and less then 5% a year from now. Happy to cancel any that the government doesnt want. Just say the word!" That blunt response highlights a reality Democrats refuse to acknowledge: Musks enterprises are not dependent on Washington; Washington is increasingly dependent on them.

"Exactly. Democrats don't get that Elon's companies are a benefit to America, something they can't get with the same quality through other means, and they should be very grateful they have access to things like SpaceX. SpaceX doesn't need the government, but the government needs them." Yet the left is so consumed with ideological control that it is willing to jeopardize American innovation and national capability simply to punish a man who will not bend the knee.

"The Democrats are so intent on going after him that they don't care about how much he brings to America. They should be lauding him and praising him for all of his contributions. And they would if he were still a Democrat. It's because he's not under their control that sparks the fury. They complain about weaponizing, even as they try to weaponize the government against him." Musk, for his part, appears fully aware of the campaign against him and utterly undeterred by it, a stance that resonates with many conservatives who are tired of watching the left try to crush its opponents through state power.

"I have to hand it to Elon. He knows they're trying to get him and still, he flips them off and spits in their eyes. Gotta admire the courage in the face of truly evil action." His confidence is rooted in the enduring strength of his companies and the weakness of his political antagonists, a contrast that should give Democrats pause but likely will not.

As Musk put it, "both Tesla and SpaceX will be around longer than any politician who is in their job , regardless of party . they have the best products and nobody is a close #2 as of now. Take that Elizabeth Warren @SenWarren and Bernie Sanders @SenSanders."
