Trump's Civil Rights Enforcer Harmeet Dhillon Just Quit The Justice Department And The Timing Says Everything

Harmeet Dhillon has resigned as the Department of Justices assistant attorney general for civil rights, sources told Fox News.

Dhillon was nominated by President Donald Trump in December 2024. She was sworn in during April 2025 after being confirmed by the Senate.

She is leaving after Trumps Republican Party lost the House and Senate in this weeks midterm elections. In the leadup to the midterms, Dhillon defended the Trump administrations investigation into noncitizen voters.

There are people who feel that the point is to sow distrust about the whole election system. There are very few people who are noncitizens who end up voting very, very few. And so, therefore, whats the purpose? Lesley Stahl, host of CBS 60 Minutes, had asked Dhillon.

Dhillon pushed back on the premise. The point is actually the opposite of what you were saying. Its not to sow distrust. The distrust is there. And so, all of these kinds of crimes are being prosecuted now for the first time really, in volume. And look, even the Biden administration prosecuted 13 people for noncitizen voting, she responded.

Bloomberg Law first reported that Dhillon planned to step down, describing her as the first senior Justice Department official to resign following the midterm results. This is a developing story.
