Man Walks Right Into Unlocked NJ Early-Voting Trailer With Voting Machines Inside And Nobody Was There To Stop Him

A video posted by independent journalist Leonard Filipowski shows a Union City, New Jersey, resident walking into an unlocked early-voting trailer nearly an hour before it opened and finding the voting machines unattended, according to The Gateway Pundit.

Filipowski, known online as Leroy Truth, said the man entered the mobile trailer at 10th Street and Summit Avenue around 9:01 a.m. on Oct. 27, ahead of its scheduled 10 a.m. opening. The trailer held two voting machines, electronic poll books, and other election materials, and no staff were present.

The footage shows the man stepping inside and saying nobody is there. Filipowski told The Gateway Pundit that several sources told him the trailer had been left unlocked all night.

Hudson County Board of Elections Clerk Michael Harper confirmed to Hudson County View that the trailer was unlocked. Harper said an electrician who services the generators for Union City's 10 early-voting trailers checked the site around 8:50 a.m. and "wrongfully" left the door unlocked.

"Just because he said it doesn't mean its true," Filipowski countered, noting that Harper's account was published without challenge. "Even if he electrician story was true, it's still a major security breach," he said.

Harper confirmed that the machines were not replaced. He said officials ran a real-time diagnostic check showing the machines and poll books had not been powered on, Wi-Fi was off, and vote totals matched the previous night's recorded numbers.

Harper said the county was "absolutely 100 percent confident those machines remained unmolested." He added that password and physical safeguards, including a locked USB port, would have made "casual" tampering difficult.

Harper described the video to Hudson County View as potentially a "setup" and said the trailer was unlocked for roughly 30 minutes at most, not overnight. He said the county has been in contact with the New Jersey Attorney General's Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is reportedly exploring trespassing charges against the man who walked in.

Filipowski countered that no one can be "set up" to leave voting machines unlocked and unguarded. He called for an independent FBI investigation, alleging he also has evidence of serious corruption in past elections involving Mayor Brian Stack, who is also a state senator.

Hudson County View noted that New Jersey law requires municipalities to protect voting machines once they are delivered to polling places. Under Section 19:48-6 of Title 19, the local governing body "shall provide ample police protection against molestation, tampering, or damage to the machines."
