Is This Election The Last Chance To Save America? Elon Musk Warns It's 'Game Over' If Democrats Sweep Washington

Elon Musk is warning that a Democratic sweep of Washington would mean the end of American democracy as we know it, and he says only one thing can stop it.

In a post on X, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO laid out what he called his "biggest concern" if Democrats win the House, Senate and presidency in 2028. He said they would "make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate."

Musk predicted Democrats would also "open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority." He added that they would "increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority."

"This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word," Musk wrote. His solution was simple: "All that is needed to ensure this doesn't happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029."

"That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one," he continued, later adding in a follow-up post, "It would be game over for America."

Two of Musk's three warnings have already surfaced in Congress. In April 2021, the Democrat-led House passed a bill to make Washington, D.C., a state, but it went nowhere in the Senate.

That same month, Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts introduced a bill to expand the Supreme Court from nine justices to 13. It never left committee, and Democrats lacked the votes to expand the court because of opposition from moderates such as Joe Manchin, then a Democratic senator from West Virginia.

Musk is backing up his words with his wallet. According to Western Journal, the world's richest man has spent about $445 million on federal elections this cycle, citing CNN.

Brendan Glavin of OpenSecrets said the donations could "single-handedly" alter the course of the midterms. Andrew Romeo of America PAC, which Musk founded, warned that if Democrats take control of Washington, "America risks becoming a socialist, woke and borderless country."

History is not on the GOP's side, since the president's party usually loses ground in midterm elections. With Republicans holding razor-thin majorities in both chambers, a shift of just a few seats could flip control of Congress.
