Mamdani Bragged About A 'Halalflation Update' For NYC Street Vendors Then The Post Mysteriously Vanished

New York Citys left-wing, Muslim mayor is facing mounting criticism after touting, then quietly deleting, a social media post celebrating what he called a Halalflation update tied to the approval of 10,500 new street vendor licenses.

According to Breitbart, Mayor Zohran Mamdani used the term Halalflation update while boasting that 1,800 of those new licenses were specifically for Muslim food vendors, a move that immediately raised concerns about religious favoritism and the cultural direction of the citys streets. The post quickly drew attention from conservative activist Laura Loomer, who accused the mayor of using public policy to advance Islamic norms in the public square.

Disgusting. The Muslim Mayor of New York City is bragging about approving another 10,500 street vendor licenses for Halal food trucks, Loomer wrote, adding, Hes even calling it Halalflation update. Loomer argued that the mayors framing signaled not just economic policy, but an ideological push to normalize halal practices across the citys food landscape.

Street vending in New York has long been a magnet for illegal aliens and recent migrants, offering cash-based work that often escapes the regulatory and tax burdens borne by brick-and-mortar businesses. For many law-abiding restaurant and shop owners, the expansion of vendor licensesespecially when celebrated along religious lineslooks less like opportunity and more like state-sanctioned undercutting of those who play by the rules.

After a backlash erupted online, Mamdanis post vanished from X, but Loomer had already preserved it. Luckily I took a screenshot because I was stunned he tweeted this to begin with, she wrote in a follow up post, underscoring what many on the right see as a pattern of radical policies followed by quiet retreats once exposed.

Loomer went further, accusing the mayor of discrimination and selective favoritism in his approach to licensing. Mamdani should be sued by the DOJ for discriminating against non-Muslim street vendors, she alleged, adding, Where is @peta? Are they ok with the Muslim Mayor of NYC adding another 10,500 Halal food trucks?

Halal, in this context, refers to the Islamic system governing what is permissible or lawful under sharia, including strict rules for slaughtering animals. Under halal requirements, animals must be killed by a Muslim cleric or an appointed representative, with the animals throat slit and the blood allowed to drain, and the practice is often exempted from certain American food safety regulations, raising ongoing debates about animal welfare, public health, and whether U.S. policy should bend to accommodate religious law.
