Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas has made clear he is hoping for nothing short of an electoral massacre for President Donald Trump in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections.

According to Breitbart, the Wall Street and Basic Instinct star used a BBC Today program appearance to outline his desire for sweeping Democrat gains while promoting his autobiography One Helluva Ride in the United Kingdom. Im hoping for a massacre, and well see overwhelming Democratic votes across the board, Douglas declared, signaling the entertainment industrys ongoing hostility toward Trump and his supporters.

Douglas argued that The president has exhausted his promises and repetitions, and were seeing areas, especially in the Midwest, that havent been Democratic in years, suggesting a political realignment that many polls do not yet reflect. Obviously, Congress is going to change and I think it wasnt thought possible until recently that the Senate will too, he added, embracing the lefts narrative of an inevitable blue wave.

A longtime Democrat donor, Douglas has been a vocal supporter of President Joe Biden, even as critics point to the administrations economic mismanagement, border chaos, and foreign policy stumbles. Nevertheless, he is now projecting that Democrats will use any reclaimed congressional power to revive investigations into allegations of corruption and cronyism involving Trump and his allies, despite those accusations being strenuously denied.

Theyve got a pretty good plan as to what they want to do, and it doesnt mean indicting the president immediately. I think they hear the people talk, and theyre going to work on these issues of affordability, if there is this dramatic change, the Hollywood elite member said, framing partisan probes as a response to public concern. Then, I think theyre going to start handpicking the people around Trump, the people that made a lot of money theres a lot of corruption issues, and theyre going to start to one-by-one pick them off, he added, underscoring how some in the entertainment class appear more eager to target political opponents than to confront the failures of Biden-era governance.
