A prominent Michigan Democratic fundraiser who previously led finance efforts for the partys top statewide campaigns has announced he is crossing the aisle to vote for Republican Mike Rogers over Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

According to HotAir, David Kramerwho served as campaign chair for Democratic Rep. Haley Stevenss Senate bid and previously chaired finance efforts for Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkintold Jewish Insider that he will vote for Rogers in next weeks election. Just eight days earlier, Kramer and former Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lon Johnson had co-authored a Detroit Free Press column urging fellow Democrats to leave the Senate line blank to deny El-Sayed a victory.

Kramer told Jewish Insider that watching El-Sayeds campaign in the final stretch convinced him that simply leaving the ballot blank was no longer enough. As we get closer and closer to the general [election], its become clearer to me that Abdul is certainly not moderating at all, and I think really becoming more extreme and more dangerous and less responsive to the Jewish community, Kramer said while noting he remains a proud Democrat supporting other Democrats down the ballot.

The longtime fundraiser explained that El-Sayeds recent remarks declaring that Israel is neither a friend nor an ally of the United Statesand instead calling Israel a threatwere a bridge too far. Kramer condemned what he described as a consistent pattern of this blood libel of the Jews are to blame for everything coming from El-Sayeds campaign.

[El-Sayed] has repeatedly linked Americas problems to Israel, and by extension to Jews, Kramer wrote in his statement to Jewish Insider. Abdul strongly implies that Jews are to blame for higher prices and that the middle class [has failed] to get ahead because Jews (AIPAC, Netanyahu, etc.) have strong-armed the American government into sending billions of dollars to Israel in aid and into fighting an unnecessary war in Iran.

Kramers endorsement of Rogers came right after Barack Obama campaigned in Detroit over the weekend in a last-ditch effort to shore up Democratic support for El-Sayed. With Jewish and black voters in Michigan increasingly breaking away from El-Sayeds far-left campaign, conservative observers say Kramers public defection is the latest sign that the wheels are coming off for Michigan Democrats.
