Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is once again defying the political class and pollsters, forecasting a shocking Republican victory in the coming election cycle.
Gingrich, a longtime strategist for the conservative movement, has a track record of challenging establishment narratives and being proven right when it counts. According to Gateway Pundit, he is now predicting that President Donald Trump and the broader MAGA coalition are poised for another upset that will rattle Democrats and their media allies.
This is not the first time Gingrich has broken with conventional wisdom and rejected the polling industrys preferred storyline. In 2016, when nearly every major outlet insisted Hillary Clinton was inevitable, Gingrich went on Fox News Hannity and made a prediction that stunned the political class.
Im going to go out on a limb tonight and you can keep this tape and remind me about it after the election, OK? Donald Trumps going to win, Gingrich declared, refusing to bow to elite opinion or the donor class. He added, Donald Trumps going to win because in the end the country is not going to reward big banks and big unions and big bureaucracies and big donors and big corruption by voting for a big liar. And in the end, the country is going to say, you know, whatever Trumps weaknesses may be, hes a sincere guy trying very hard to get this country back on the right track.
He repeated that prediction in the same interview, underscoring his confidence that voters were ready to reject the corrupt nexus of Washington, Wall Street, and left-wing special interests. Later that fall, speaking to Breitbart, Gingrich continued to highlight President Trumps improving numbers and warned that the political establishment was sleepwalking into a Brexit-style shock.
Now Gingrich is issuing a similar warning to Democrats for the upcoming 2026 election, signaling that the populist conservative wave is far from over. Trump and the MAGA movement, he argues, are again positioned to upend the progressive agenda and restore a government more accountable to ordinary Americans.
Reflecting on his own formation, Gingrich cited his work on the film Nine Days That Changed the World about Pope John Paul IIs 1979 visit to Poland and its role in shaking the Soviet empire. His consistent statement was, quoting Christ, Be not afraid, Gingrich said, framing todays political struggle as a moral contest against an overreaching left.
So I think personally, Ill go out on a limb and say I think the odds are much better than even that by Election Day, we will win one of the most shocking off-year elections in American history, he continued, suggesting that voters are recoiling from radical Democrat-socialist policies. For millions of Americans watching crime, inflation, and cultural extremism spiral out of control, Gingrichs blunt assessment that Democrat-socialists are just too damn scary captures a growing sentiment that may once again translate into a red-wave surprise, as he recently reiterated on the Sean Hannity podcast.
