Sacramento Husband Accused Of Killing Wife After Burned Remains Found In El Dorado County

A Sacramento man is in custody on suspicion of murdering his wife after authorities confirmed that burned human remains found in El Dorado County belonged to the missing woman, according to law enforcement officials.

As reported by CBS News, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Gurinder Gill was arrested Wednesday following a homicide investigation into the disappearance and death of his wife, Jasmine Gill, who was last seen at the couple's Sacramento home on Sept. 30. Her disappearance was reported by a concerned family member when Jasmine's cousin contacted authorities on Oct. 4.

Gurinder initially attempted to shift blame to federal authorities, telling detectives that "Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents" had detained his wife while she was outside checking the mail. Investigators contacted ICE, which confirmed that "no enforcement activity had occurred at the home," directly contradicting his account, officials said.

Detectives said they later uncovered multiple inconsistencies in Gurinder's statements regarding his wife's disappearance, raising further suspicion. They also learned the couple was embroiled in an ongoing divorce and child custody dispute, a reminder of how domestic conflicts can escalate with tragic consequences when family stability breaks down.

Law enforcement officials in El Dorado County had first located burned human remains on Oct. 1, which were later identified as those of Jasmine. Upon Gurinder's arrest, investigators executed search warrants at two residences linked to him as they worked to build a comprehensive case.

Gurinder is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail and has been deemed ineligible for bail. Authorities have not yet detailed a motive, but the case underscores the importance of rigorous law enforcement and the rule of law in protecting vulnerable family members when domestic tensions and legal disputes intensify.
